Sing we triumphant hymns of praise,
New hymns to heav’n exulting raise,
Christ, by a road before untrod,
Ascendeth to the throne of God;
Th’apostles on the mountain stand
The mystic mount in Holy Land,
They, with the blessed Mother, see
Jesus ascend in majesty.

To whom the angel drawing nigh,
“Why stand and gaze upon the sky?
This is the Saviour”, thus they say,
"This is His noble triumph day.
Again shall ye behold him so
As ye today have seen him go0,
ln glorious pomp ascending high,
Up to the portal of the sky.

"He hastes to mount his heav'nly throne,
He takes his kingdom for his own,
And thence again, when time shall end,
To judge the nations shall descend.
Jesus, in that tremendous day,
Our sole redemption, thee we pray
Vouchsafe to number us on high
Amongst thy saints blest company.
