Praise we the Lord this day;
This day so long foretold,
Whose promise shone with cheering ray
On waiting saints of old.

Hail, happy gate of bliss,
Greeted by Gabriel's tongue,
Negotiate our peace,
And cancel Eva's wrongs.

Loosen the sinner's bands;
All evils drive away
Bring light unto the blind,
And for all graces pray.

Exert the mother's care,
And thus your children own,
To him convey our pray'r,
Who chose to be your Son.

O Pure, O spotless Maid,
whose meekness all surpass'd,
Our lusts and passions quell,
and make us mild and chaste.

Preserve Us pure and chaste
Through life our safety be
Till Jesu's sight be giv’n,
And endless bliss with you.

Praise to the Father be,
With Christ His only Son,
And to the Holy Ghost
Thrice blessed Three in One.
