Ere he left the earth,
Shed, to pay our ransom,

Thus, his lambs so cherished,
Purchased for his own,
He would not abandon
In the world alone.

Ere he makes us partners
Of his realm on high,

With him in the sky,
Love immense, stupendous
Makes him here below
Partner of our exile,
In this world of woe.

Jesus, food of angels,
Monarch of the heart,

here for the love of me
