HEAR the Heart of Jesus pleading,
Come and sweetly rest in me.
With a peace and joy exceeding;
Meek and humble ever be;
My fond guidance wisely heeding,
Keep your hearts from passion free.

Purer than the lily's whiteness,
Fairer than the fairest snows,
In the beauty and be brightness
Of your souls, I seek repose;
Hearts aglow with true contriteness,
Shall the living God enclose!

Hearts of love, in you confiding,
We shall learn to your will;
In your sacred wound abiding,
Burning love our hearts shall fill;
Grace divine shall keep us striding,
'Neath the cross up life's steep hill.
